April 2018 Luncheon – Straddling the fence: IATA’s global role representing airlines and forwarders and the issues they face. – Featuring Mike White, President of CNS

  • April IACAC Luncheon
    April 10, 2018
    11:15 am - 2:00 pm

Straddling the fence: IATA's global role representing airlines and forwarders and the issues they face.

Cargo Network Services is the US arm of IATA representing the interests of airlines while requiring forwarders to be members for the purposes of CASS settlement. With two distinct groups under that umbrella, CNS and IATA are working to identify and help airlines and forwarders manage an increasingly complex and data-demanding regulatory environment while ensuring the continued flow of legitimate commerce and trade. Coupled with the explosive growth of ecommerce and the move to smaller packages going straight to the consumer, CNS knows that air cargo has to get even faster and is working to deploy technology to help make it happen.

This is a huge get for the IACAC and an event our members should take advantage of. Mike has worked in every facet of air cargo from the warehouse to the ramp to operations and brings a perspective few can muster. He is also very in demand for his time, traveling the US and world tirelessly on behalf of CNS and IATA. You want to hear it from the top? Mike's the top.

Meet Mike White, President of Cargo Network Services Corporation (CNS).

Based in Washington, DC, Mike is a leader in the air cargo industry’s efforts for security, e-commerce, facilitation and government issues in North America. Industry and government officials call upon him frequently for air cargo leadership, subject matter expertise and industry position on air cargo issues.

Mike currently leads US industry efforts for development of standards for the Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS), the adoption by the US Transportation Security Administration of the electronic consignment security declaration (eCSD), launch of e-commerce efforts and head of cargo facilitation efforts for the International Air Transport Association in the United States.

Pricing change announcement for national speakers.

With this luncheon, we have instituted a new policy for national-level speakers. Because of the extremely unique opportunity for our members and to support their travel or lodging to speak, the cost for this will be $35.00 for members and $45.00 for non-members.

Local speakers will remain $25.00 & $35.00, but for people like Mike (and Brandon Fried who is coming this fall), the cost will be slightly higher. A survey of our luncheon rates compared to other cities like LAX, JFK and MIA find that we are still much lower than other major markets, offering our members an unparalleled value.
