Wayne Hovland
is the Vice President of the Drug Testing division for
Aurico Reports,
Arlington Heights, IL, since 2003.
Prior to joining Aurico,
he spent 34 years with the
Chicago Police Department. While there,
he wrote the investigative
process on positive employee drug tests. He then
developed the department's random drug testing program.
He was placed in command of this unit until he retired.
Upon retirement,
he was hired as a
consultant by Psychemedics, the world's largest hair
testing company. In this position he worked with the
police departments in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco
and Los Angeles in the
development and implementation of their drug testing
programs. He also presents a nationally recognized
program on drug recognition for supervisors, which he
has presented to numerous Fortune 500 Companies. He has
been invited twice to address the Substance Abuse
Program Administrator’s Association on recognizing the
signs of substance abuse. Mr. Hovland has also addressed
numerous labor law seminars on how to reduce drug use in
the work place. Mr. Hovland is widely quoted on this
topic. Most recently he was invited to address the
Brazilian National Police regarding random drug testing.
His program is DOT Compliant for mandated supervisor
training.
